The International Monetary Fund confirmed on Sunday that Jordan is applying the latest international practices in preparing national accounts, after completing a comprehensive process of re-estimating and updating the base year to 2023, which resulted in raising the value of the gross domestic product to 39.8 billion dinars, an increase of 10% over previous estimates. The Fund’s representative residing in Amman, Yahya Saeed, explained that the review process, which lasted four years and was carried out by the General Statistics Department with technical support from the International Monetary Fund and ESCWA, adopted the latest instructions for the System of National Accounts and the Standard Industrial Classification in its fourth edition, in addition to using new research and surveys that expanded the database and enhanced the accuracy of estimates.
