The Curitiba Cris Cyborg once again moved the world of fights by commenting on the possibility of Ronda Rousey return to martial arts. In a post made on social media, the PFL champion mocked her rival’s technical level and ruled out any chance of seeing her competing in boxing.
“I once saw Ronda Rousey shadow boxing and her shadow won! No chance of her boxing. Maybe a return to the octagon for a fight against Gina Carano… but Ronda has no place anywhere near a boxing ring,” wrote Cyborg.
The statements come amid Ronda’s negotiations with the Irish Katie Taylor for a possible duel that would mark his return to fighting. The American, now 38 years old, hasn’t fought since 2016, when she was knocked out by Amanda Nunes and retired after losing the UFC belt.
Meanwhile, Cris Cyborg remains active and has a fight scheduled. The Brazilian returns to the cage the next day 13in France, where he will defend his championship belt PFL in confrontation with Sara Collins.
Even though she has been away for almost a decade, Ronda Rousey is still considered one of the greatest figures in the history of women’s MMA. Her rivalry with Cyborg marked an era, and the public still dreams of a duel between the two, although, according to the Curitiba native, this is far from happening, especially if it involves boxing gloves.
