The meeting scheduled in Brussels between Zelensky and a Trump delegation, led by Witkoff and his son-in-law Kushner, traveling after Putin’s visit, was canceled due to the Ukrainian president’s abrupt return to Kiev. This was reported by Kiev Post, citing unspecified sources. The reason for the cancellation has not yet been disclosed.

On X the chief correspondent of the Kiev Post in Washington, Alex Raufoglu, also wrote that Witkoff and Kushner will return to Washington rather than continue to Europe or Kiev for further talks.

The chief negotiator of Ukraine, Rustam Umerov, will be in Brussels today to meet with the national security advisors of European leaders. This was announced by the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky.

“The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine will be supported in these meetings by the Chief of the General Staff Andrii Hnatov. This is about our ongoing coordination with partners, and making sure the negotiation process is fully active. Ukrainian representatives will inform their colleagues in Europe about what is known following yesterday’s contacts from the American side in Moscow, and will also discuss the European component of the necessary security architecture. After Brussels, Umerov and Hnatov Preparations will begin for a meeting with President Trump’s envoys in the United States. As always, Ukraine will work constructively to pursue real peace. I expect a new report on the results of today’s meetings in Europe,” concluded Zelensky.
