Apple is planning a cheaper iPhone 17, the first details about the phone have leaked

Goodbye ‘tooth’, welcome Dynamic Island

The biggest visual change will be the abandonment of the outdated cutout, better known as “notch”, which is still found on the 16e model. Instead, the iPhone 17e should get Dynamic Island, a more modern solution that Apple introduced on the Pro models. This not only standardizes the appearance of the entire iPhone 17 series, butć software features such as interactive notifications and Live Activities are also unlocked. In addition, sources from Korea state that the device will have thinner frames around the 6.1-inch OLED screen, which will give it a more elegant and modern look.

However, in order to maintain a lower price, the screen will not have all the features of more expensive models. It will remain at the standard refresh rate of 60 Hz, which means that ProMotion and Always-On display functions remain reserved for the premium segment.

Performance without compromise

Under the hood, the iPhone 17e could be a real surprise. Instead of using an older čip, as was customary for cheaper models, Apple reportedly plans to equip it with the latest A19 čip – the same one that will power the standard iPhone 17. This would ensure top performance, especially in games and tasks that rely on artificial intelligence. However, a minor compromise is expected: the A19 ip in the 17e model will likely have a GPU with four cores, as opposed to five cores in the more expensive models.

Improved cameras and the expected price

Significant improvements are also expected in the cameras. While the rear camera should have a single but powerful 48 MP sensor, the real star could be the front camera. Some rumors mention an 18 MP sensor with support for Center Stage, a function that automatically frames and keeps multiple people in the center during a video call. As for availability, the iPhone 17e is expected in the first half of 2026, probably in the spring. The price should remain at the level of its predecessor, which in Europe could mean a starting price of around 600 euros.

All in all, the iPhone 17e is shaping up to be an extremely attractive device for users of older models who want to upgrade without breaking the bank. With a modern design and top performance, it could become a real sales hit.
