Paramount offers 8 billion for Warner Bros

In the takeover battle with Netflix over the film and media group Warner Bros Discovery (WBD), competitor Paramount Skydance has stepped up: Paramount made a new offer for WBD on Monday, valuing the company at $108.4 billion (around 93 billion euros). Paramount boss David Ellison called on Warner Bros Discovery shareholders to consider the “superior cash offer”.

Netflix announced its planned takeover of WBD for almost 83 billion dollars (a good 71 billion euros) on Friday. However, US President Donald Trump questioned the agreement on Sunday, citing Netflix’s “very large market share”.

Paramount boss Ellison maintains good relations with Trump. Paramount Skydance wants to take over Warner Bros Discovery including the television channels; according to media reports, Netflix is only interested in production and the streaming division.
