Experience science and technology at Nam Dong primary school

More than 800 students at Nam Dong Primary School just had a day of playing and learning with robots, programming green cities and exploring outer space.

On December 8, Nam Dong Primary School cooperated with GIIC Education and E-Connect Hai Duong to organize “STEM Festival – STEM Festival 2025”. The event was organized to make STEM a regular activity at school, creating an environment for students to learn through experience, develop creative thinking, and form career dreams from their first interactions with science and technology.

With the professional companionship of GIIC Education and E-Connect Hai Duong, the program helps elementary school students proactively access scientific and technological knowledge through practice, understand the basic principles of engineering, robotics, the environment and the universe at an age-appropriate level, thereby cultivating problem-solving thinking, group cooperation, and the ability to observe and ask questions.

The festival turned the school yard into a giant laboratory with 7 in-depth experience areas, each area associated with a group of STEM skills.

At Robotic Mini Lab – Tiny Invention Corner, students are given a wooden 3D STEM Kit, and they manually assemble moving models to understand basic mechanical and electrical principles, with the message “From small hands, big ideas are born.”

Robot Football Arena area – Exciting Robot soccer game with 8 teams competing, controlling robots on the mini field. The match was recorded and commented live, creating a fun learning and creative atmosphere with the message “Play to learn – control to understand – cooperate to win. Each goal is a lesson in teamwork and creative reflexes.

Notably, the Green City Challenge – Building a Green City, where students program robots to plant trees in the right position on a smart city simulation table. This activity encourages sustainable thinking, aiming to develop green technology with the message “Coding for a green planet – Code for a clean Earth.”

Students can also freely explore at the Innovation Center through exciting chemical experiments such as “Volcanic Eruption”, “Liquid Rainbow”, affirming “Science is not just in books – Science is in life.”

Meanwhile, Robotics & IoT Zone demonstrates self-balancing robots, simulates smart homes, bringing students to approach 4.0 technology with a proactive and humane mindset: “Technology is a tool – human intelligence is the driving force.”

Finally, the Space & Universe – Space and space area is especially attractive with models of the Solar System and the International Space Station (ISS), sowing the seeds of the dream of endless exploration: “Looking at the sky, we see the limits of imagination – not of humans.”

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen, Principal of the school, STEM Festival is designed from very specific implementation steps to create a truly attractive learning environment. Each activity allows children to experiment, observe and ask questions, making learning lively and arousing their natural interest in science.

Representative of the accompanying unit, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Vu, Deputy General Director of E-Connect Vietnam and GIIC Education emphasized: “This is one of the activities that clearly demonstrates educational orientation by bringing technology, English and creative skills into practical experiences to sow the seeds of technological dreams.”

Mr. Vu said that after implementation in some schools in Hai Phong, the program will continue to be implemented in Hanoi.

Regarding STEM activities, in May, speaking at the event announcing the decision and attaching the national standard level 2 sign of a school in Hanoi, Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung said that the Ministry is working with the Ministry of Education and Training to establish an artificial intelligence (AI) learning program, including awareness, application and creativity, integrated into subjects such as math, information, civic education, technology, from high school to university levels. study.

According to the Minister, STEM is an integrated, interdisciplinary and practice-based approach to education that solves practical problems. Students must work in groups, create solutions, and apply knowledge to design; Students practice, then present and criticize; Students learn experimental thinking, action, and problem solving. “The Ministry of Science and Technology has a program to support technology businesses in researching and developing STEM systems for education,” the Ministry said.
