Finland made terrible numbers at the Women’s Floorball World Championships

Finland advanced to the quarterfinals of the World Championships.

Finland the women’s national floorball team beat Poland 18–1 in the final match of the preliminary series of the World Cup.

Poland scored the first goal of the match after just over two minutes of play, but after that Finland took control of the game.

Finnish captain Veera Kauppi started the scoring with superiority and finally the first set was finished with Finland leading 5–1.

In the second period, Finland scored six times and the hunger for goals only increased by the third period, when the ball found the Polish goalkeeper Zuzanna Nieskorskan from behind no less than seven times.

The Finnish team’s best player was awarded with 2+1 hits Olivia Pietilä.

Fine Finland, which started the tournament, still has a chance to win the group.

In Sunday’s match, Finland beat Slovakia 13–4, and on Saturday the result was a tight 3–3 draw against Sweden.

The group win is therefore in Sweden’s hands. Sweden will face Slovakia later on Monday, and Sweden must win the match by at least five goals for the team to win the group. Otherwise, Finland will go to the quarter-finals as the group winner.

The quarterfinals of the Women’s Floorball World Championships start on Thursday.
