Antwerp police arrest underage cocaine dealer

The Antwerp police neighborhood team noticed a young man in Kasteelpleinstraat on Friday who was exhibiting suspicious behavior. “The boy was seen briefly entering a portal and after a few seconds was standing outside again on his bicycle,” said Wouter Bruyns, spokesperson for the Antwerp police. “Colleagues on the scene suspected that he was selling drugs.”

During a check, inspectors found a sock containing 22 sales units of cocaine, 200 euros and a mobile phone. The suspect turned out to be a minor and was brought before the juvenile court.

Aggressive driving style

That same day, drug squad inspectors noticed two young men driving with a noticeably aggressive style. “A check of the license plate soon revealed that the owner of the car was known for drug offenses, so the inspectors continued to keep an eye on the car,” says Bruyns.

The passenger briefly entered a home twice: first in Antwerp and then in Zwijndrecht. “When the vehicle took off again, the team was able to intercept the car. Both men turned out to be trafficking cocaine.”

They were arrested on the spot and detained by the investigating judge. The council chamber decides today (Thursday, ed.) about their further detention. The cocaine found, 540 euros in cash, three mobile phones and the vehicle were seized.
