Leaflets appeared in several areas of Tehran offering to enlist in the Russian army. Contacts were offered a bonus of $15-18 thousand, a monthly salary of $2.5-2.8 thousand, as well as free housing, medical care and uniforms. On Tuesday, December 9, the Russian Embassy in Tehran published a statement denying its involvement in the distribution of leaflets. “Neither the embassy nor any Russian official structure has anything to do with this,” the statement said. The embassy recommended that Iranians who received a leaflet or letter with such a proposal contact local law enforcement agencies.
