Nicolás Maduro now assures that in Venezuela “it is already 2026” and launches a “communication battle”

“2026 has already begun, today is 2026; it started early“said the president during a meeting with his cabinet broadcast on state TV. And he once again played with the flexibility of time: if the country does not reach the future, the future simply comes forward: according to his particular vision, everything they do from now until “when January 1st dawns” will serve for “the construction of a peaceful and prosperous homeland.”

The announcement comes in full diplomatic escalation with the United States, with crossed accusations and after the seizure that Donald Trump’s government made this Wednesday of an oil ship off the coast of Venezuela.

The Chavista leader’s message also included the formal presentation of the “Plan 2026”a package of measures that, he stated, aims to build “a peaceful and prosperous homeland.” The slogan is the same as always, but this time it comes wrapped in new political marketing and a schedule brought forward one year.

Among the initiatives described by local media and international agencies, it was detailed that the plan includes at least seven lines of action, among which a “communication battle” to combat “fake news” stands outwhich will be promoted by the regime itself, frequently accused of creating official narratives and silencing critical voices. There will also be a reinforcement of security throughout the territory.

Maduro also pointed out that training and communication teams will be created in more than 5,300 communal circuits to intervene “on a daily basis” in the management of public policies at the local level. They will be, he said, base structures for a “communal government of transition to socialism”, an idea that Chavismo dusts off every time it needs to reorganize its territorial control structure.

“How we have progressed in the last 23 weeks of threats,” Maduro celebrated. “I thank God for so many strengths, so many good ideas and this brave people who, in a perfect popular-police-military fusion, guarantee that Venezuela is sovereignly at peace.” According to his reading, stability is assured thanks to that mix of patriotic fervor and uniformed presence.

In other passages, Maduro relapsed into his usual script and once again targeted the United States, as he had done on Wednesday when he launched an outburst against Javier Milei for supporting the Nobel Peace Prize for opposition leader María Corina Machado.
