A serious anti-Semitic incident at the requested destination

Suspicion of an anti-Semitic incident in Melbourne: A rabbi in the community claims that he and his children were verbally attacked on the electric train in the Australian city by a local woman, who slapped them to “go to the gas chambers”.

The woman, who was recorded in a video published this morning (Friday) on the Instagram account of the Australian Jewish Association (AJA), carried a “Palestine bag”, hid her face and claimed that the rabbi and his children were “harassing her”. She added: “Why would I say something like that at all?”.

The CEO of the Australian Jewish Association, Robert Gregory, responded to the serious incident and said: “This looks like another shocking case of anti-Semitism in Melbourne. It is unimaginable that someone could tell a child to go to the gas chamber. The fact that the woman was carrying a bag with pro-Palestinian propaganda items does not surprise me at all.”

The CEO of the association also said that he praises the rabbi “for doing the right thing. People cannot stand by when such shocking cases occur.”

Anti-Semitism in Australia is on the rise. Only recently, Itamar Francis, an 18-year-old boy and a 12th-grade student at a local school in the country, told about the difficult events he experienced and the lack of response he encountered from the teachers. Among other things, he said that “someone wrote in German ‘death to the Jews’ in the bathroom and drew swastikas, there were engravings on the trees, they told my little brother that he should go back to the crematoriums and that all Jews deserve to die.”
