Villain with a heart of gold: US actor Peter Greene dead

US actor Peter Greene, who became famous with films such as Quentin Tarantino’s “Pulp Fiction” and Jim Carrey’s “The Mask”, has died at the age of 60. He was found dead in his home on New York’s Lower East Side, according to his manager Gregg Edwards. “He was,” Edwards said, “a close friend, one of the best character actors on the planet, and he will be missed.”

Nobody played villains better than him. “But he also had a soft side that most people never got to see and a heart as big as gold.” Greene, who was born in 1965 in the US state of New Jersey, had his first roles in film and television in the early 1990s – mostly as villains. Among other things, he was also seen in “Judgment Night” and Bryan Singer’s “The Usual Suspects”. He last played a role in the series “The Continental” in 2023. (Tsp/dpa)
