“Street Fighter” movie hits our screens with its first trailer

The occasion also served as a first look at the film’s cast and our first look at its plot, in which Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are recruited by Chun-Li (Callina Liang) to participate in a world tournament behind which a dangerous conspiracy hides.

It is a familiar plot not only for fans of “Street Fighter” in which the protagonists continually find themselves involved in violent championships administered by suspicious villains, but also for those who saw the saga’s first foray to the big screen in 1994, when the film starred Jean-Claude Van Damme as Guile and Raul Julia as the antagonist M. Bison.

Roles that in the new film will be occupied by Cody Rhodes and David Dastmalchian respectively. They accompany them also Jason Momoa as Blanka, Orville Peck as Vega, 50 Cent as Balrog, Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim, Oliver Richters as Zangief, Hirooki Goto as E. Honda, among others.

Interestingly, the film not only takes characters from “Street Fighter II” like its predecessor, but also adds some fighters from later editions such as Akuma, younger brother of Ryu and Ken’s teacher, played this time by Roman Reigns, as well as other characters Juli (Rayna Valladingham), an assassin created by the same program as Cammy, which indicates that it will delve more into the past of some of the protagonists.

“Street Fighter” will be released in theaters on October 16, 2026. It is directed by Kitao Sakurai (“Bad Trip”) and co-produced by Legendary and Capcom.
