On the eve of CES 2026, the world’s largest consumer electronics festival, LG announced a technological breakthrough that could change the TV market forever. The company ćin Las Vegas to present its first flagship Micro RGB television, named LG Micro RGB evowhich promises to combine the best of two worlds: the exceptional brightness of LCD with the color and contrast precision that OLED screens are known for.
This model, which is moreć won the innovation award at CES 2026, represents a significant step forward in relation to the popular Mini-LED technology and directly attacks the segment in which most positioned by competitors like Samsung and Hisense.
What is Micro RGB technology anyway?
To understand the importance of this announcement, it is necessary to clarify what Micro RGB technology brings. Classic LCD TVs, including those with Mini-LED backlighting, use white or blue LEDs as a light source, which then passes through color filters to create an image.
Micro RGB technology fundamentally changes that philosophy. Instead of a single light source, it uses thousands of tiny LEDs that emit red, green and blue colors (RGB). This enables far more precise control over colors and brightness, which results in a more vivid image, a wider range of colors and deeper black tones. Essentially, this technology bridges the gap between LCD and OLED, where each pixel lights up independently.
LG claims that their Micro RGB evo goes a step further because it uses the knowledge and precision gained during 13 years of dominating the OLED market to control these beautiful RGB LEDs.
A color revolution and a smart processor
The driving force behind the new TV is an advanced AI processor α11 (Alpha 11) of the third generation. Based on the Dual AI Engine architecture, this processor brings the “Dual Super Upscaling” feature, which simultaneously processes two types of AI upscaling. LG promises that this will result in a sharper, but also more natural image, without the artifacts that sometimes occur with aggressive processing.
Colors like you’ve never seen before
The biggest advantage of this model is the technology that LG calls RGB Primary Color Ultra. Thanks to it, LG Micro RGB evo has achieved something that until recently was considered impossible for the LCD category: 100 percent coverage of three key color spaces – BT.2020, DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB.
This claim was also confirmed by the independent certification house Intertek, which means that this television could offer the highest possible level of color reproduction on the market. This makes it ideal not only for watching HDR movies, but also and for professionals involved in digital photo and video processing.
Technology is responsible for achieving the highest contrast Micro Dimming Ultrawhich manages more than a thousand dimming zones. Although some competitors, such as TCL, offer multi-zone models, LG points out that their advantage lies in control precision, inspired by OLED technology.
The competition does not sleep
Although LG’s announcement resonated in the technology world, it is important to note that they are not the first to enter the Micro RGB arena. Samsung and Hisense moreć have presented their models, and it is expected that CES 2026 will be the stage where the real battle for supremacy in the new generation of televisions will be fought.
However, LG believes it has an ace up its sleeve – its long experience with OLED technology.
“Achieving absolute visual fidelity is the goal of every screen, and with the LG Micro RGB evo we have achieved a milestone that until recently was thought to be unattainable in this category,” reads the announcement signed by Park Hyoung-sei, president of LG Media Entertainment Solution Company. “This launch marks the evolution of RGB TVs and redefines industry standards.”
LG Micro RGB evo (model MRGB95) will be available in impressive diagonals of 75, 86 and 100 inches. Prices and the exact date of arrival on the market will be revealed during the official presentation in Las Vegas in early January. One thing is for sure – the battle for the best TV in 2026 just got a lot more interesting.
