Ice hockey: Routine win for the Jokers at home

Jokers took a 4-1 routine victory over Nokian Pyry of hockey Mesti on Tuesday in Helsinki. Thanks to their victory, Jokerit became the top of Mesti with equal points with JoKP.

The teams couldn’t offer the public any magical puck night on Tuesday. From time to time the extracts even turned anemic.

Pyry tried to hang on, but in the end Jokerit was clearly better.

“The start was a bit weak from us, it should have been a bit harder. We then got into the game quite well and scored the necessary goals”, the Joker’s attacker, who scored 1+1 points on Tuesday Jesse Liuksial said in an interview with MTV.

In any case, the visiting team from Nokia entered the match without prejudice and moved on Santeri Peltolan with a man-of-the-match goal at the beginning of the opening set to take a 1–0 lead.

Jokerit, on the other hand, started the game slowly, but in the middle of the first period Rasmus Lahnaviik scooped a 1-1 equalizer for the home team from the puck that bounced off the goalkeeper.

Ville Leskinen gave the Jokers a 2–1 lead with superiority before the end of the opening set.

In the second part of the match, the Jokers had an even stronger hold on the game. Pyry didn’t manage to attack at all due to the pressure of the home team’s hairline and central defensive grouping.

Jokers however, pucked ineffectively in its offensive end, and it was unable to score additional goals in the second period.

At the beginning of the third period, Jokerit ran the puck into Pyry’s pocket, but the goal was disallowed due to interference from the goalkeeper.

In the middle of the third period, the Jokers finally scored their third goal, when Alexander Forslund stylishly whipped the puck into the top corner.

Jesse Liuksiala launched the puck into Pyry’s empty goal and made the game 4–1 three minutes before the end of the third period.

“You have to be patient, I’m sure every guy thought that there were a lot of scoring chances and we should have scored better – but we were patient”, Liuksiala reflected.

Nokian Pyry’s best player on Tuesday was the goalkeeper Brother Matti Mäkinenwho recorded a total of 36 saves.

Jokers defender recruit, experienced Take Rantakari32, flashed his skills from time to time, but did not yet reach actual feats.

The number of spectators for the match was announced as 3,824.
