Rosa von Praunheim is dead

Von Praunheim had married just a few days ago. On Friday, the 83-year-old and his long-time partner Oliver Sechting said yes, as von Praunheim announced on Instagram on Monday. You can see, among other things, a photo of two hands wearing wedding rings in the shape of frogs.

The filmmaker, born Holger Radtke, wrote film history with more than 150 short and feature films. At the same time, he became a pioneer of the gay movement in Germany.

At the beginning of the 1970s, his film documentary “It is not the homosexual who is perverted, but the situation in which he lives” caused a stir, with which he was the first filmmaker to bring the then-repressed topic of homosexuality into public discussion. The 1971 film “The Bedwurst” is considered a cult film.
