European country denounces that Russia violated its border

The Estonian Interior Ministry stated that the incident did not pose a threat to the country’s security, but requested formal explanations from Vladimir Putin’s regime about what happened.

“There is no direct threat to security, but politics and border control have strengthened the presence in the area,” declared Interior Minister Igor Taro.

On Thursday morning, Estonian authorities detected, with the help of monitoring cameras, the presence of Russian guards on the Narva River.

According to the report, three of the guards disembarked from a hovercraft and crossed the line of control towards the Estonian side before returning to Russian territory.

A meeting between those responsible for border control from both countries is scheduled for today. Furthermore, the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the chargé d’affaires of the Russian embassy in Tallinn to provide clarifications.

Similar tensions have occurred on NATO’s eastern borders in the past. In 2024, Estonia reported that Russian border guards had removed signaling buoys from the Narva River, classifying the incident as a “provocation”.

In addition to this episode, in recent months other European countries have reported that Moscow had temporary access to their territories without authorization with the help of drones, which generated a NATO alert and the mobilization of fighter jets.
