New location found for “Ergüns Fischbude”.

“Ergüns Fischbude” has to close at its old location on Lüneburger Straße. Deutsche Bahn did not extend the rental agreement after 30 years. After losing the court case, it will finally be over for operator Mine Çetinbaş and her colleagues in the rooms under the S-Bahn viaduct on January 1, 2026.

The operators drew attention to their plight in the fall with video views on TikTok and Instagram. “Every contribution helps us keep Ergün Amca’s life’s work alive,” said an employee in the video. “So that we don’t forget, like it happened to many other shops in Berlin.”

A related request for donations was obviously successful: the restaurant is reopening in Britz. In an Instagram reel, the operators explain the biggest difference: “This store is officially approved as a restaurant.” They explain what guests can also expect on Rudower Straße: “A real bar, very clean toilets, many more seats and no more stress with neighbors.” It won’t just be food and drink: the restaurant will also have a room with bowling alleys.

It is not yet clear when exactly the reopening will be celebrated. “In January” – at least that much is promised.

Mine Çetinbaş took over the restaurant after her father’s death. He once came to Berlin as a guest worker and fulfilled his dream with the fish restaurant. A spokesman did not want to explain why Deutsche Bahn terminated the restaurant. “We do not want to comment publicly on this,” was the only response to a request in the fall.
