“The United States told us that they will have a separate meeting with Russian representatives. They proposed a format of Ukraine – United States – Russia, and since there are also representatives from Europe, maybe Europe too,” Zelensky said at a press conference in Kyiv.

So far, US officials have met mostly separately with Russian and Ukrainian officials, with the three sides not negotiating in the same room at the same time.

The three rounds of direct talks in Turkey, in May, June and July, ended with agreements on the exchange of prisoners, wounded and dead bodies, but no significant progress was recorded in the direction of conflict resolution.

“If there can be a meeting that would promote discussions, or if the outcome of a tripartite meeting of advisers can be an agreement on a meeting of leaders, I cannot be against that. We will support the offer of the United States,” the President of Ukraine said.

The United States, Russia or European countries have not yet confirmed a possible change in the format of the talks.
