The African Cup of Nations…an opening ceremony that highlights Moroccan and African identity

Morocco opened the 35th edition of the African Football Cup of Nations on Sunday in Rabat with a “colorful” ceremony that highlighted the Kingdom’s historical identity from its roots all the way to the present contemporary time. The ceremony, which was held on the grounds of Prince Moulay Abdullah Stadium, with an almost full capacity of about 60,000 spectators (its full capacity was 69,500), led by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and Swiss-Italian FIFA President Gianni Infantino, continued for about 30 minutes. It showed the Moroccan cultural heritage in all its forms, through artistic paintings highlighting the cultural depth of Morocco and its connection to the African continent throughout history, as well as the combination of authentic Moroccan heritage and modern visual technologies in the event.
