Turkish Foreign Minister: “Implementation of the second stage of the Gaza agreement will start at the beginning of 2026”

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that the implementation of the second stage of the plan to resolve the situation in the Gaza Strip will start at the beginning of 2026. According to him, the priority is the creation of Palestinian self-government in the sector.

The statement was made by a politician in Damascus following consultations held a few days earlier in Florida with the participation of high-ranking representatives of the United States, Turkey, Egypt and Qatar, who acted as mediators in the settlement in Gaza.

The second stage of the plan provides for the further withdrawal of Israeli troops, the creation of a temporary power structure that will take over control of the sector, the formation of an international stabilization force and the disarmament of the Hamas terrorist group.

Israel is categorically opposed to any Turkish participation in the post-war settlement of the Gaza Strip, including by international forces. A few days ago, Fidan said that the residents of the sector need Turkish help, and the Israeli side is not the only one with the right to vote.
