Thames Water is urging people to scrape food scraps from dirty dishes, ensure drains are fitted with a strainer and avoid flushing liquid foods, such as gravy or cream, down the sink.

In 2017, a larger fatberg was discovered under the British capital, weighing around 130 tonnes. A piece of it was even exhibited in the London museum. “It was like breaking through concrete,” Thames Water’s Matt Rimmer said at the time. “It’s frustrating because these situations are completely preventable.”
