China urges the US to fulfill its “commitments” and promote international “nuclear disarmament”

The Chinese authorities have urged the United States on Tuesday to fulfill its “commitments” on nuclear matters and promote the “disarmament” of this type of weaponry at an international level after having accused Beijing of deploying a hundred continental ballistic missiles in Mongolia.

The spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Lin Jian, indicated during a press conference that the United States “remains a superpower with the largest nuclear arsenal in the world, which makes it urgent that it fulfill its responsibilities in this regard.”

“The United States must significantly reduce its arsenal to create conditions that lead other nuclear states to join this disarmament process,” he stated, according to information collected by the state newspaper ‘Global Times’.

Furthermore, he regretted that Washington “does not show a willingness to enter into negotiations” on arms control and has pointed out that statements about the alleged deployment of missiles are “exaggerations.”

“This posture,” he argued, “is part of the United States’ constant tactic, designed to find excuses and accelerate the modernization of its own nuclear power, thus undermining global strategic stability.” “The international community should have a clear understanding of this,” he concluded.
