Ken Follett in an interview: “Marital sex is not exciting for the reader”

Dhe blue hour has dawned outside the windows of the hyper-modern luxury hotel on the Hamburg Alster. Ken Follett, the British bestselling author, has come to Germany for the last stops of his reading tour through Europe. His current book is called “Stonehenge – The Cathedral of Time” and is set in the Stone Age in England. In it, Follett tells of conflicts between three different tribes that lead to the construction of the world-famous stone monument. It goes without saying that “Stonehenge” is once again high on the bestseller lists: Ken Follett has been one of the most successful authors in the world since his medieval novel “The Pillars of the Earth”. His thirty-seven novels have sold more than 190 million copies worldwide. And there he is: Follett enters the suite slightly late, but smiling friendly. He has a snow-white crew cut, a suit but no tie, and he wears a gold signet ring on the little finger of his left hand. He sits down on a very low armchair that stands in front of the floor-to-ceiling window.
