Traffic restricted due to damage to sewer shaft

The damage was discovered as part of a regular inspection. The Berliner Wasserbetriebe then had the closures set up at short notice and commissioned a company to carry out the repairs using the cut-and-cover method. According to the company, the construction site was set up immediately and work has already begun.

The shaft is to be partially demolished and then secured by Wednesday. Since the work is taking place over the holidays, no major traffic disruptions are expected, it is said.

The shaft will be rebuilt from January 2026. The final ceiling closure should then take place as quickly as possible.
