“Proud video installation on Itō Mancho chosen by Osaka museum”

“Being a protagonist at Expo 2025 in Osaka represented a moment of great pride and responsibility for Bracco”, stated Diana Bracco, president and CEO of the Bracco Group on the occasion of the meeting ‘Bracco alongside the Italian System at Expo 2025 Osaka: a bridge of innovation between science and culture’ which was held at the Teatrino of Palazzo Visconti in Milan. “We wanted to give continuity to our history of commitment on the occasion of the Universal Expositions by offering our contribution in the face of global challenges such as the advancement of scientific technologies, starting with artificial intelligence, environmental sustainability and longevity, the latter being a theme that Italy and Japan have in common and on which prevention and predictive medicine have a lot to say. For Bracco this is a consolidated and precise strategy of cultural diplomacy: we are a global Group present in 100 countries around the world and we have always focused on Italian culture as business card and driver of our internationalization process”.

Ambassador Mario Vattani, general commissioner for Italy at Expo 2025 Osaka, also spoke at the meeting: “The partnership with the Bracco Group was strategic for the success of Italian participation in Expo 2025 Osaka. Art, science and high technology were central elements through which we expressed the theme Art regenerates life. Thanks to Bracco we were able to enhance key sectors of the Italy-Japan bilateral relationship, fully consistent with the Italy-Japan action plan, starting from the life sciences and the dialogue between art and health, areas in which the Group boasts an experience of excellence. The collaboration also benefited from the experience gained by Diana Bracco with Expo Milano 2015 and was extended to symbolic moments such as the National Day, with the contribution of the Accademia Teatro alla Scala. The exhibition of the portrait of Itō Mancho by Domenico Tintoretto at the Italian Pavilion – concluded Vattani – together with an evocative and splendidly created video. finally, it represented a very strong sign of the historic dialogue between our two countries, now projected towards the celebrations of 160 years of bilateral relations in 2026”.

Also speaking at the event were Fulvio Renoldi Bracco, vice president & ceo of Bracco Imaging, Lorenzo Galanti, general director of the Italian trade agency, Fabio Tedoldi, head of global r&d Bracco, Viviana Crescitelli, senior researcher at Hitachi, Gian Giacomo Attolico Trivulzio, president of the Trivulzio Foundation, Isabella Castiglioni, scientific director of Cdi, Maria Vittoria Bandini and Gabriele Calcagno, students of the dance school of the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala, Fabrizio Grillo, director of general affairs and international relations Bracco and Rossella Menegazzo, head of culture, science, education of the Italian Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka.

During the six months of the Universal Exhibition, Bracco promoted a wide range of initiatives in the name of science and culture, including several conferences that fostered new synergies between the European and Japanese scientific communities (thus strengthening some partnerships, for example with the University of Osaka, the Japanese Radiology Society and Bracco Japan) and the photographic exhibition “Milan through the eyes of Leonardo” by the Bracco Foundation, hosted at the splendid headquarters of the Italian Embassy in Tokyo. Furthermore, on the occasion of the Italian National Day, the Group offered a global stage to the young dancers of the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala, of which the Bracco Foundation is a founding member. The talented kids from the dance school performed in front of Princess Nobuko Mikasa no Miya and the Minister of Culture Alessandro Giuli.

Although the Osaka Expo has just ended, the journey of the Italian Pavilion continues. Among the 158 participating countries, Italy is the only one to maintain its exhibition presence in Japan: the most representative works of the Pavilion are now protagonists of the exhibition ‘Atlante Farnese and the treasures of the Italy pavilion from the Expo 2025 Osaka’, hosted at the Osaka city museum of fine arts until 12 January 2026. The Japanese public can thus admire masterpieces such as the Atlante Farnese, the Banner of Justice by Perugino, precious sheets of the Atlantic Codex by Leonardo da Vinci and the video installation of Itō Mancho created by Bracco, which recounts the campaign of diagnostic investigations carried out on the work by the Italian Diagnostic Center. The exhibition, organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Italian Embassy in Tokyo, the Italian Consulate in Japan and the Italian Cultural Institute in Osaka, symbolically opens the celebrations for the 160th anniversary of Italy-Japan relations, scheduled for 2026.

“We are very happy that our video installation has become part of the Expo legacy, remaining on display at the Osaka City Museum of Fine Arts -concluded Diana Bracco-. And it is a further source of pride to be present simultaneously in Italy at the Palazzo Reale in Milan with the exhibition Art from inside, which brings together this long tradition of commitment between art and science, exhibiting the diagnostic analyzes of Italian masterpieces between 400 and 700”.
