“I am convinced that we can help him”: the moving mobilization to save Tylor Chase, child sitcom star who became homeless

Support from an old friend. Now homeless, actor Tylor Chase, revealed during his childhood by the American sitcom “Ned or How to Survive School” (“Ned’s Declassified”), received help from one of his former partners, Daniel Lee Curtis, an actor also revealed in his youth by the Nickelodeon series.

Tylor Chase, now 36, who played Martin Qwerly in the hit series broadcast on the Nickelodeon children’s channel between 2004 and 2007, made headlines in recent days when a video of him wandering the streets of Riverside (California) from last September resurfaced.

The video moved her former co-star Daniel Lee Curtis, who played Simon “Cookie” Nelson-Cook on the series. The latter shared on Instagram this Tuesday a video of his reunion with Tylor Chase in the streets of Los Angeles.

In this sequence, both sad and moving, we see Daniel Curtis Lee take his former sidekick to lunch in a neighborhood pizzeria and video call Devon Werkheiser, lead actor of the sitcom. After the restaurant, the actor takes his old friend visibly suffering from addiction problems to a hotel and offers him help to enter a detoxification center.

“Tylor Chase and Cookie meet up with Ned on FaceTime. They have eaten well and are sheltered from the rain. Hotel booked! One more step towards long-term treatment,” the actor wrote in the caption of his Instagram video. “PS: Tylor wants to live stream video games. Who can help him? “.

The 34-year-old actor also revealed in an Instagram video that he helped the former child star reconnect with his father. “I am convinced that we can help Tylor get back on his feet, and you know that I believe in that more than anything this holiday season,” he added.

Earlier in the week, Devon Werkheiser, who plays Ned on the Nickelodeon sitcom, said he was upset after discovering the video of Tylor Chase in a difficult situation on the streets of Riverside. “Tyler was a sensitive, gentle and kind child. It’s heartbreaking to see him in this state,” he told TMZ about the former actor whom he hasn’t seen since the end of the series.
