The Grand Rex relaunches its trailer festival

« You’ve been asking us for a long time » announced Le Grand Rex on its social networks on December 22. The Parisian venue is organizing the sixth edition of its trailer festival, which will take place on January 5, 2026. Lasting two hours, the evening will be free and plans to broadcast 40 to 50 promotional films. The event will be dedicated to trailers for the most anticipated French and foreign films of 2026.

The last edition dates back to 2017. “ After Covid, we had fewer places available, because our large room is often booked for large events and with the release of the new film Avatar, I wanted to relaunch the event », Explains Alexandre Hellmann, general director of the Grand Rex. The idea for the festival was born with the film’s trailer Man of Steel in 2013. « When I saw Superman fly into space, I realized I had to see this trailer on the big screen. YouTube is good for the first discovery, but the real show is experienced in the room “, he confides.

“A festive spirit”

The event is billed as a festival, even if it doesn’t exactly have the traditional form. It is rather a free and friendly evening, orchestrated “in a festive spirit with a host present to guide the room and during which the public can applaud or boo the trailers», specifies Alexandre Hellmann.

The festival poster, shared on social networks, sparked many reactions. Produced using artificial intelligence, it shows posters of fictional films rather than existing films, although with recognizable characters like Batman. “ I generated the poster with artificial intelligence using films that might be released, but this is not a poster intended to reveal the films », underlines the director.

The year 2026 promises to be rich in great films. This trailer festival offers a unique opportunity to discover preview extracts from blockbusters, dramas and other major upcoming productions. Among the expected films, we find Hamnetthe latest creation by Chloé Zhao (January 21), the long-awaited sequel to The Devil Wears Prada 2 with David Frankel directing (April 29), without forgetting The Odyssey by Christopher Nolan (July 15) or Avengers Doomsday (December 16).

Voted the most beautiful cinema in the world

In February, Le Grand Rex was voted the most beautiful cinema in the world by the British group Time Outspecialized in cultural outings and travel magazines. The group’s journalists have established their ranking of the 50 most beautiful cinemas in the world. The prize therefore goes this year to the establishment located on boulevard Poissonnière in the II^e district of Paris, which occupied second place five years ago. At the time, the Grand Rex had been overtaken by the Pathé Tuschinski, located in Amsterdam.
