Sivert Bakken died while wearing an altitude oxygen mask

The Norwegian biathlete Sivert Guttorm Bakken aged 27, was wearing a altitude oxygen mask when he was found dead on the morning of December 23 in his hotel room in the area of Lavazé Pass in Trentino.

The detail was made known by the Norwegian Biathlon Federation in a press release stating that it “is not currently aware of the circumstances surrounding the acquisition and use of this mask.” Bakken will be subjected to autopsy in Italy during the Christmas period. Emilie Nordskar, interim general secretary of the federation, states in the statement that this is “a tragic situation with many unresolved questions“.
