Gonzalo Suárez’s cinema, Goya de Honor 2026, in January at the Film Academy

The Film Academy has included in its programming for next January feature films nominated for the Goya – which will be announced the same month -, previews of national and international productions accompanied by discussions with filmmakers, as well as films by the director and screenwriter, Gonzalo Suárez, who will receive the Goya of Honor 2026 at the 40th edition of the awards on February 28, which will be held in Barcelona.

Furthermore, in its programming it is planned that Suárez, author of ‘Ditirambo’, ‘Morbo’, ‘Parranda’, ‘Epílogo’, ‘Remando al viento’ or ‘The Anonymous Queen’ will have a talk with Aitana Sánchez-Gijón, an actress who has also won the Goya of Honor, as reported by the Academy in a statement.

Thus, starting in January, the five titles nominated for Best Animated Film and the five with options in the Best New Director category will pass through its screening room. Meanwhile, he will finish “reviewing the feature films candidates for Best European Film.”

For his part, the writer Arturo González-Campos will present his new book ‘Cinema with more things’, before the screening of ‘Historias de la radio’, the classic signed by José Luis Sáenz de Heredia. Added to these activities are the previews of ‘The Chronology of Water’, Kristen Stewart’s directorial debut that covers the life of the writer Lidia Yucknavitch, followed by a talk between Gloria Fortún and Julia de Castro.

Likewise, ‘La fiera’ will be screened, a new work signed by Salvador Calvo, who will hold a meeting with the public accompanied by Carlos Cuevas, Miguel Bernardeau, Miguel Á. Silvestre and Fernando Bovaira. Finally, the program will also feature ‘Aída y Volver’, a film based on the series by Paco León, who will attend the Academy along with part of the team from his new story as a filmmaker.
