The Red Line of the Tel Aviv tram will be extended to Rishon Lezion

The Ministries of Transport and Finance and the Municipality of Rishon Lezion signed an agreement to extend the Tel Aviv Light Rail Red Line.

The Red Line will be extended south from Bat Yam to Rishon Lezion by approximately three kilometers and will include four new elevated stations – Menachem Begin, Koresh, Rehavam Zeevi and Shimon Yisraeli.

The new terminus will be a transport hub connecting the Red Line, Green Line and the future Brown Line trams, as well as an interchange station for the two railway lines.

Along with the new line, a plan to build a buried, covered depot of about 100 dunams near the HaEleph complex will be promoted. About 2,500 new housing units will be built above the depot, as well as retail and employment areas.
