After years of requests, Google could be about to let you change the name of your Gmail account

We have probably all suffered it. An email account that uses an embarrassing nickname or a reference to a time in your life you’d rather forget. Perhaps you ended it with a number that later acquired a dangerous meaning or that refers to youthful humor that is not in line with more professional activities.

Previously, if these indiscretions occurred with a Gmail account, The only recourse you had was to create a new one with a different name.but there are indications that Google is thinking about changing the policy and that we will finally be able to change the email address of our account without completely losing access to it.

These indications were initially reported by the website Digital Trends, which noted that although there has been no announcement from the company, a change has been noted in the policy of renaming Google accounts in some markets.

“If your Google account email ends in gmail.com, you can replace it with another one that ends with @gmail.com”

The publication notes that this change appears to be testing first in India but, as we noted previously, there is no official announcement as to when (or if) it will expand to other territories. Anyway, it gives new hope so that those with the number 420 in their email can finally have a presentable email when submitting their CV.
