Da Nang police find phones that fell into the sewer for foreign customers

On the morning of December 26, a representative of Hai Chau Ward Police confirmed that they had assisted Hong Kong tourists in finding their phone that fell into the sewer at around 10:30 a.m. on December 25. Initially, she asked hotel staff and passersby to help pick up the phone, but the distance from the crater to the fall point was about 2 meters, making all efforts unsuccessful.

When he saw the female tourist burst into tears and panic, a resident informed the Da Nang City Police for assistance. Afterwards, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police force of Da Nang City Police in coordination with Hai Chau Ward Police arrived at the scene to assist in handling the incident.

The ward police representative said that when he looked at the light, he saw a phone, but the manhole was narrow and the distance was far, so he used a hydraulic jack to lift the manhole. Next, a soldier went down to find the customer’s phone.

When receiving the phone call, the Hong Kong tourist was emotional and repeatedly said “Thank you Vietnam, thank you Da Nang police” in English.

“For tourists, a phone is not only a valuable asset, it also contains all contact information, travel schedules and precious memories during the trip,” said a representative of Hai Chau Ward Police, saying they want to join hands to build the image of Da Nang as a city worth living in, and at the same time bring the image of friendly Vietnamese people to friends around the world.

Previously, Hai Chau Ward Police also helped tourists reclaim lost property including jackets and wallets – inside there was money and some identification documents on November 18. In Da Nang, many tourists are also supported by the Da Nang Beach Tourism Order Management Team to find lost items from wedding rings falling into the sea, phones buried in sand or forgotten wallets.
