XX International Mario Luzi Award to Francesco Giro

In the poetry of Francesco Giro, former regional councilor of Lazio, parliamentarian in the Chamber of Deputies and in the Senate of the Republic and subsequently Undersecretary of State for Culture, we read in a note of the prestigious award, “the themes diverge, but the tension is always the same. The intransigent search for a lost harmony. At the center there is the desire for sentimental clarity to live life with authenticity. Poetry illuminates love, memory, the most pressing current events (‘Femicide’), the events of youth, one’s own suggestions. Poetry is also gratitude – we read again – for the artists and wanders from one place to another, but its home is the auroral one of a sun that rises to illuminate the birth and destiny of words, of choices, of the stories of us, women and men”.
