Due to the back injury of Lithuanian Augustas Peciukevicius (out for months) and the resulting limited rotation options, Kangaroos Mechelen started looking for reinforcement. Coach Tony Van den Bosch found it with Zan Kosic in Slovenia.
The 32-year-old Kosic played in the Italian Serie B this season. At Virtus Kleb Ragusa he averaged nine points, three rebounds and five assists. The Slovenian shooting guard has played for Contstanta (Romania), Fulgor Omegna (Italy) and Hopsi Polzela (Slovenia) in the past.
In the 2022-2023 season, he also played ten games for Stella Artois Leuven Bears in the BNXT League. If the administration is completed, Kosic will celebrate his debut at Kangaroos Mechelen on Saturday (8:30 PM, Winketkaai Mechelen) in the quarter-final of the Belgian Cup against Spirou Charleroi.
