Trump threatens intervention in Iran if the country kills “peaceful protesters”

“The United States of America will come to your rescue. We are ready to act,” Trump wrote in Truth Social this Friday (2).

The protests in Iran began on Sunday (28), when traders came together to complain about the serious national economic crisis, marked by the devaluation of the local currency and the increase in prices, a situation that is aggravated by international sanctions and the country’s involvement in conflicts, such as the June war against Israel.

With the support of students, the acts, which began in Tehran, gained strength and spread to other regions of the country. The demonstrations turned violent on Wednesday (31), after clashes with the police.

According to official information released on Thursday (1st) by human rights observatories, at least seven people have already died in the context of the demonstrations, considered by the international press to be the biggest since 2022, triggered by the death of young Mahsa Amini, accused of failing to comply with the country’s strict dress code, which requires the use of the hijab (Islamic veil).

Iran’s head of National Security, Ali Larijani, responded to Trump’s threat through a post on X. He wrote that “Trump should have known that US interference in this internal issue would mean destabilizing the entire region and destroying American interests.” Larijani added that the American president “started this adventurism” and that the US “must be concerned about the safety of its soldiers.”
