Mastriani reveals what awaits him back at Athletico

“It was a difficult year, I didn’t have the continuity I wanted, but obviously we always try to learn from each situation. So today I’m a calmer, more mature person and trying to make the most of each situation”, declared the 32-year-old striker, in an interview with TMC Radio and ge.globo in the lobby of Afonso Pena Airport.

Mastriani revealed that he is awaiting a conversation with the red and black board to define his future. The player guaranteed that, so far, nothing has been passed on to either him or his agent. “Surely there will be this conversation so I can find out what the club wants from me, first, and then I can adjust the situation and move forward”, he said.

Despite having received some surveys in this transfer market, so far none of them have pleased the board. In this way, the player will continue working with the main group until their destiny is sealed.

The Uruguayan recalled that he signed with Athletico just when he was at the peak of his career wearing the América-MG shirt. “I have a contract, obviously, I’ve always said that I chose to come to Athletico at the best moment of my career. So, I’m not going to say that I want to leave like this”, he analyzed.

“The year 2024 ended up bad for me because of the surgery. So, first we have to talk, we have to know what everyone wants”, he added. Asked if he intends to turn things around at Arena da Baixada, the veteran was laconic: “It could be an option”, he summarized.
