LOSC condemns the “unacceptable behavior” of its supporters after homophobic chants against Rennes

The behavior of certain Lille supporters had outraged many followers. Rouge direct, the collective of whistleblowers against homophobia in football, pointed out the chants sung by part of the public during the defeat of the Dogues against Stade Rennais last Saturday (2-0). The Professional Football League, the referee, as well as the media had been targeted by homophobic remarks, notably chanted by members of the DVE, for Dogues Virage Est.

Faced with the reactions, Losc reacted via a press release published this Wednesday. The club “condemns with the greatest firmness the unacceptable comments and behavior made by a small part of the public”. Chants “contrary to our values ​​of respect, inclusion and conviviality”, wrote the northern team.

She “presents her sincere apologies to those affected”. “Nothing can justify insults, discriminatory remarks and attacks on respect for people. As we do every time, the club will cooperate with the competent authorities and take the necessary sanctions,” continued Losc, which ensures that it is strengthening its “prevention, awareness and dialogue actions”.

During this game, Lille president Olivier Létang stood out for his new outburst against the referees. “It’s a shame! It’s a scandal! I can’t believe it! You are not even able to speak calmly,” he told Éric Wattellier at half-time, according to images captured by Ligue 1 +.
