“Oil is the only thing that could make them give in”: farmers build dams near Bordeaux

The scene has an air of déjà vu. Across the road, tractors and mounds of earth, tires and bales of straw block access to the Bassens oil depot, near Bordeaux. The site had already been blocked in the fall of 2024, at the initiative of the Rural Coordination (CR) of Lot-et-Garonne.

This time, it is the Gironde branch of the agricultural union which is at the initiative of the movement. While many tractors converged on Paris, as far as the Arc de Triomphe, the National Assembly or the foot of the Eiffel Tower, the CR33 had planned actions for those who could not go to the capital, in particular breeders.
