Cremonese wastes the double advantage: Cagliari comes back to make it 2-2

The return to victory fades for Cremonese as they extend their streak without success to five: ahead by two goals, the Grigiorossi are caught again at 2-2 by Cagliari. The Lombards had never scored in their last four matches, but immediately broke the deadlock thanks to an error by the guests. In fact, just four minutes were enough for Cremonese to take the lead, born from an error by Mina: Vardy stole the ball and fed Johnsen, who made it 1-0.

Nicola’s surprise move immediately proved decisive, with the Norwegian moving between the lines and creating superiority with the strikers, while Pisacane made a mistake in upsetting the rossoblù formation. In particular, the choice to move Palestra to the left, inhibiting and limiting the U21 jewel, is not convincing. Cagliari’s maneuver suffered as a result and the Sardinians did not turn, even conceding an encore in the 28th minute. This time Luperto makes a mistake, triggering Bonazzoli’s restart: assist for Vardy and it’s 2-0. The rossoblù’s awakening only occurred in the last ten minutes of the first half, with some encouraging initiatives and an opportunity: Rodriguez, in an offensive projection, challenged Audero.

We therefore go to half-time with the grey-reds’ double advantage and Cremonese opts for a more conservative attitude, while Cagliari launches the assault on Garibaldina. Pisacane immediately inserts Esposito and, in the space of twenty minutes, changes four, switching to 4-2-3-1 with Kilicsoy behind Borrelli. The shock is evident and follows the excellent end of the half, with the islanders taking control of possession (64% in the second half) and dominating all over the pitch. Cagliari narrows the gap in the 51st minute with Adopo (who takes advantage of Borrelli’s pass and scores with a perfect low shot) and pushes in search of an equalizer.

Esposito saw it canceled out in the 69th minute, while Zappa and Borrelli lacked precision. Another shock is needed and Pisacane relies on one of his men, the former Primavera player Trepy who is decisive. Mazzitelli’s throw, control and shot by the attacker and it’s 2-2. A masterly goal scores a draw for CAGLIARI, who however risk being left with ten men in the final: Bonacina misjudges a tackle from Luperto and sends him off, but is corrected by VAR.

We therefore continue with eleven against eleven and, in the maxi-recovery, Cremonese has a sensational chance: Vandeputte devours the winning goal on the counterattack, kicking to the side face to face with Caprile. It ends 2-2: Cremonese on 22 points after the first round, Cagliari rises to 19 points. The Sardinians, after having regained a very precious draw with great impetus, thus return to +6 on the relegation zone.
