Freezing rain threatens Zagreb: The City issued a warning, closing Sljemenska again for the weekend

Vehicles of the Winter Service of Zagreb’s Roads are preventively sprinkling the roads in the area of ​​the City of Zagreb. From 11 a.m., maximum capacities are engaged on all roads I. and II. in order to go around the roads and additionally sprinkle them with salt.

About 350 municipal employees of East and Zrinjevac are included in the activities of the Winter Service, who continue with cleaning and preventive salting of pavements, pedestrian zones, tram and bus stops and other public areas.

Service and intervention teams of ZET are deployed long-term; transport network, with increased supervision of tram corridors and track assemblies to ensure the smooth functioning of public transport.

The competent authorities issued a warning to all road users to adapt their movement to the difficult weather conditions. Drivers are recommended to avoid journeys if they are not necessary, drive more slowly and with a greater distance, avoid sudden braking and acceleration, and use winter equipment and correct tires, with special caution on bridges, overpasses and curves. Pedestrians are advised to move more slowly, wear appropriate footwear, and avoid paved surfaces wherever possible.

A special notice refers to Sljemenska cesta, which will be closed to all private vehicle traffic during the weekend of January 10 and 11, 2026, in order to prevent difficulties caused by parking. Exceptions are ZET vehicles, delivery for mountain lodges, Medvednica Nature Park vehicles and utility vehicles.

City officials call on citizens to be extra careful and follow official notices about road conditions.
