The new robots from CES know how to clean well

Did you think that a robotic vacuum cleaner that avoids socks is the pinnacle of technology? Think again. The recent CES show in Las Vegas proved that the future of home cleaning is no longer just about vacuuming. From Roborock’s robot that finally “cracked” the stairs challenge, to Samsung’s cleaning machine with strong suction power and high temperature disinfection. Get an overview of the following models that the technology manufacturers plan to bring to our homes.

Samsung Bespoke AI – steam cleaning and AI recognition

Samsung introduced the Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam Ultra, a robot that uses artificial intelligence (AI)-based object and liquid detection to detect furniture, cables and even colored or transparent liquids, so it can clean or avoid them depending on the user’s settings. This robot also features the EasyPass wheel, which allows it to easily navigate over doorways and carpets up to 6 cm high, while side brushes and a scrub pad clean along corners and walls.

The Samsung robot has a docking station that washes the scrubbing pads at high temperatures and disinfects them using steam at a temperature of 100 degrees Celsius, which helps reduce odors and maintain a cleaner and more hygienic home environment.

ECOVACS Deebot X12 – the long roller technology

ECOVACS introduced an upgrade to its Ozmo Roller technology in the new model – Deebot X12 OmniCyclone. The Ozmo Roller 3.0 version comes with a new 26 cm long roller, 50% longer than the previous generation, which allows a wider area to be covered in each pass. In addition, a high-pressure washing system, with 16 spray nozzles, should better clean stubborn dirt directly from the roller, to prevent re-contamination and thus finally offer a clean floor without marks.

The ECOVACS robot also offers a solution for tough dirt, using an infrared sensor used to detect stains along with two high-pressure water nozzles, which break down dry dirt even before the washing step.

Dreame X60 Max Ultra – strong suction power and climbing on obstacles

The Dreame company introduced the X60 Max Ultra Complete which comes with a very strong suction power of 35,000 Pa. The robot itself comes in at a low height of only – 7.95 cm, which helps it clean under the furniture, this is in addition to a pair of AI cameras that help it avoid obstacles, such as: toys and house shoes and even small cubes. The robot also knows how to identify liquids, animal fur and waste such as cornflakes residues, in order to adjust the cleaning method.

Another ability of his is climbing over steps of 8.8 cm (it is about two steps, for example, one 4.5 cm and the other 4.3 cm). It also washes the floor using hot water at a temperature of 40 degrees, a speed of 230 rpm and an applied pressure of 15N (a measure of the force of pressure of the mops on the floor). The double and multi-directional washing system knows how to clean the floors with a deep cleaning, and automatically disperse cleaning agents to deal with fats and pet odors.

Saros Rover – climbing stairs

Roborock introduced the Saros Rover, a (non-washable) vacuum cleaner robot that includes legs that allow it to climb stairs. Each wheel-leg provides the ability to reach, lift and height, and the ability to raise and lower each wheel separately, to perform small jumps, turns, sudden stops and changes of direction, all while maintaining a balanced body even when the surface changes.

The Saros Rover is designed for high-rise buildings, where it is able to clean each and every step as it ascends to the second floor. The robot is able to handle various types of surfaces that are not flat, with staircases being the most prominent example. This includes not only traditional stairs, but also spiral (rounded) stairs and even carpeted stairs with a rounded ending (bullnose), cleaning each step during navigation. Other types of surfaces that the Saros Rover can handle include slopes and complex doorways between rooms on different levels. The Saros Rover is still in the prototype stages and it is not known when it will reach the market.
