Rabies-infected dog found in Mate-Binyamin area

The Israeli Ministry of Health reported that a large white-beige dog infected with rabies was detected in the village of Hashmonaim (Mate Binyamin regional council). According to the Ministry of Health, the animal was also seen in the settlements of Ganei Modiin and Modiin Illit.

The infected dog was reported on January 11. Four people who had contact with the dog were referred to receive preventive treatment against rabies.

The Ministry of Health asks everyone who came into contact with this animal or whose pets may have come into contact with it or with stray animals in the area of ​​the incident during the period from 12/28/2025 to 01/10/2026 inclusive, to urgently contact the Ramle district health service by phone 08-9181202 or to the health service closest to their place of residence to resolve the issue of prevention. After hours and on weekends, you should go to the hospital emergency department.

The Ministry of Health also recommends that parents check with their children whether they have had contact with suspicious animals, that pet owners check that their vaccinations are up to date with a municipal veterinarian, and in case of a bite/scratch, immediately wash the area with soap and water, disinfect it, and contact the health service to assess the need for prevention.
