Türkiye cancels tax exemption on private imports

Decision No. 10813 of the President of Turkey, published in the Official Gazette, repeals the provision on customs clearance of non-commercial imports up to 30 euros under a simplified procedure.

The change takes effect on February 1, 2026.

Previously, Türkiye lowered the threshold for imports under a simplified procedure from 150 euros to 30 euros.

In October 2025, the import of toys, shoes and leather goods was excluded from the simplified procedure.

Turkey’s Commerce Ministry said laboratory tests and inspections carried out on goods purchased on cross-border e-commerce platforms showed that 81 percent of the 182 products tested did not meet safety standards, with some containing toxic or carcinogenic substances.
