The difficult documentation from Iran and the residents’ testimonies: here the bodies are identified

Protests in Iran are intensifying – and as time passes, the dimensions of the tragedy are revealed. Today (Tuesday) documents from the Center for Forensic Medicine in Tehran were published in the networks, where countless bodies are seen lying side by side. The documentation, it is claimed, was already taken on Saturday, January 10. Since the taking of the documentation, protests have intensified throughout the country – and the regime has used additional lethal force against the protesters.

“I traveled almost a thousand kilometers to get access to the Internet and send these pictures,” the person who revealed the minutes-long documents claimed on the networks. “They threw the bodies into containers. There were more than 2,000 bodies that day alone. By the time we arrived, one refrigerated container was already full.”

The same compound where the bodies were, it is claimed, was designed to identify the victims: “When someone locates the body of a loved one, a forensics team records the gunshot wounds, issues a certificate. After that, the families load the bodies onto the trucks. On that day alone, there were over 2,000 or 3,000 dead.”

Despite the downfall of the Internet, the harsh videos from Iran continue to flow out, albeit at a reduced rate. In some of the documentation from the protests, you can see the members of the regime shooting indiscriminately, and also using various means to disperse demonstrations.

According to opposition sources in Iran, about 12,000 people were killed in protests in the country. However, an Iranian official told Reuters that the death toll was lower, at 2,000. The internet in the country is cut off for over 100 hours, so it is difficult to assess what is really happening throughout the country.

Earlier today, US President Donald Trump addressed the protests – and strengthened the protesters’ hands. “Help is on the way,” he wrote to them on social media, “Keep protesting – take control of your institutions. I have canceled all meetings with Iranian officials until the senseless killing of the protesters stops.”

In Russia, on the other hand, they went against the American president’s announcement. “We strongly condemn subversive external interference in internal political processes in Iran,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said. “Threats of new military strikes by Washington are unacceptable. We strongly reject attempts to blackmail Iran’s partners in the international arena by raising trade tariffs”
