NHL: Artyom Levshunov played more than five minutes of substitution

The record in the modern NHL era is Jack Hughesin in 2022 skated six minutes and two seconds long changeover. Levshunov was therefore 29 seconds short of the record.

Levshunov, 20, had a total of 24:33 playing time in the match, so the Belarusian defender played more than a fifth of his game time during one substitution. He also clocked the hardest number of minutes in the entire match.

The Blackhawks head coach Jeff Blashill commented on Levshunov’s feat in the post-match interview.

“I think he was caught by circumstances in that exchange,” Blashill said.

The exchange, which started with the superiority of the Blackhawks, continued for a long time on a level playing field, when the world’s best players are among them Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl were able to run the game in Chicago’s end.

“We had the puck in the defensive zone a few times and had a chance to switch, but we didn’t do it,” Blashill said.

The Blackhawks eventually lost the match 4–1.
