Former Education Minister Valeria Fedeli has died. He was 76 years old

It’s deadat 76 years old, the former parliamentarian and Minister of the Democratic Party Valeria Fedeli. For a long time a CGIL director, she had been responsible for Education in the Gentiloni government and, previously, vice president of the Senate, where she was elected in 2013.

“The passing of Valeria Fedeli is a great pain and an enormous loss for the entire democratic community”, says the Pd secretary, Elly Schlein, underlining that “over the course of her life as a politician, minister of education, trade unionist and feminist, she has given us an irreplaceable contribution of commitment, rare depth and great intelligence”.

“She fought until the end for equality, for the dignity of work and for full gender equality, for the constitutional principles which have always inspired both her political militancy and her significant institutional work”, he adds.

“We must all be grateful to her for her passionate and tireless commitment, which will continue to inspire us and which we will carry forward. We extend our sympathy to Achille Passoni and her family, as well as to all those who loved her and who shared this journey with her”, concludes the dem leader.
