Elon Musk’s SpaceX began providing free Internet in Iran

SpaceX, owned by Elon Musk, has begun providing free Internet throughout Iran. The head of the non-governmental technology organization Holistic Resilience, Akhmad Ahmadiyan, told CNN.

β€œIt’s enough to install the terminal where you can see the sky and connect – the connection works,” he said. Iran’s Starlink accounts, which had been inactive in recent days, have returned online, Ahmadiyan said. In this case, the subscription fee has been waived.

CNN notes that this happened after a telephone conversation between Musk and US President Donald Trump, during which Iranians’ access to Starlink satellite Internet was discussed. Previously, the media said that providing protesters with the Internet is one of the options being discussed by the US administration.

The regime’s internet blockade, which aims to prevent the world from learning about the brutal suppression of demonstrations and to prevent the opposition from coordinating their actions, has lasted more than 130 hours. However, the authorities were unable to completely deprive Iranians of access to Starlink.
