The agreement with Cyprus on the development of the Aphrodite/Ishai field is close to signing

Israel and Cyprus are finalizing the formulation of a bilateral agreement on the management of the Aphrodite natural gas field https://www.newsru.co.il/Ishai, reports the Cypriot news agency CNA.

The final draft of the treaty, including comments from the Israeli side, has been sent to Cyprus, and an Israeli delegation will arrive on the island before the end of January for intensive negotiations.

Let us recall that the field, discovered about 15 years ago and containing 120 billion cubic meters of gas, is 90% located in the exclusive economic waters of Cyprus and 10% in the exclusive economic waters of Israel, which has so far prevented its development.

The rights to develop the field are owned by Chevron, British Gas and New Energy (Yitzhak Tshuva’s company).
