Last evening and then curtain: the Comédie Française pays tribute to Molière and closes its historic hall

They come out from under the curtain which was lowered a few minutes earlier during a high-energy performance of “Fourberies de Scapin”, dive into a trapdoor and take out the bust of the boss, Molière, which they install at the front of the stage of the Richelieu room. They are the youngest among the troupe of the Comédie Française, they begin this tribute which is held in his house every January 15 – date of his baptism, his date of birth is not known – systematically since 1822.
